Free Write Friday – Via Our Homeschooler

An aspiring young writer joined in our Free Write Friday prompt and I wanted to share what this 9 year old came up with in 20 minutes. I can’t wait to read what else she writes! 🙂

I love Free Write Friday (FWF) and have not done it in a while!  Kellie Elmore is an amazing writer and has a weekly writing tool for those that want to have as much fun as she does. Each week it is a different prompt and this week it is this…

This house has a story…what is it?

Our daughter saw the prompt this time and wanted to write something.  We are a homeschool family and love any new challenges she is willing to take.  So I told her if she did it, I would post it.  She wrote this in 20 minutes. So here is my 9 year old daughters take on this old house.  Thanks Kellie for inspiring even our daughter!  She hopes to have a book published soon (she has written several chapter books) and it makes this mom’s heart glad.

Never Enough Time

Where does the time go?

We work

we play,

then suddenly days have past

without words being written

thoughts being expressed.

Too much to do

too little time to do it within.

I hope I’m not forgotten,

I hope my words are still true.

Winter falls into spring

and flowers bloom,

weeds grow

and my time is pulled a different direction

leaving me with less than before.

Bear with me

as I find the time

to let my words

flow into rhyme

and prose.

I promise you

it will be well worth your time.

Starting a new job and spring arriving has cut into my writing time. It’s very frustrating, yet it is what life tends to be. I am working on edits for my next book Destiny. As of now it seems to be a very hard edit when I thought I had the book done! *sigh* So please don’t forget me as I try to adjust to my new time limitations. I am still here, still writing, still musing and I have not forgotten you. 🙂
Have a wonderful day!

Breathe In

When words stutter,
spit
and sputter.
When thought scatters
to the wind.
When frustration blocks
the flow of creation,
time to sit back
take a moment
and breathe in.

When The Ending Strays

The path is so clear,

words flow like silk.

As I near the end

time distorts

and the path changes.

Winding in a different direction

from thoughts first kiss.

An ending appears,

not the one envisioned.

Do I keep on this path

seeing it to the finish,

or do I return to the crossroads

and try again to find my way?

A Story Unfinished Part 4…..

The fight goes on

no end in site.

Neither side willing to give,

neither one wishing respite.

Too many years

spent in blood and pain,

no other way that they know.

Why should we give up what we’ve gained,

why end this war in shame?

Pride is a wicked thing.

Always pushing,

always pestering.

Never give up!

or you will be perceived weak.

Never cry!

or others will mock you.

Always be at your best,

the top,

number one.

Never let them win….

but when is enough enough?

When do you finally say I give?

When everything is gone?

When there is no life to be seen

and the world is destroyed?

When will you choose life over death?

When…..

Voices in the dark

promising no pain,

peace.

With grief overwhelming

heartache profound

I step towards the silky warmth

needing what is promised

praying for ends respite.

A hand in mind

holding me back,

begging to stay

to come home

into the light.

Darkness reaches out

tendrils cool to the touch,

coaxing me forward

giving a taste of peace

so desperately sought.

Hovering on the edge

between life and loss,

a battle of wills

the ending yet seen

until hold breaks

I fall into arms embrace.

Eyes slowly open

a surprise awaits….

I Fly

I fly

soaring above the clouds

happy, joyous

the feeling of utter abandonment

filling me

until I feel ready to burst.

Freedom unbound

into the light and beyond.
