You know it’s coming
that it is unavoidable.
You want to run
To not answer
because then reality
might be held at bay.
But on that first ring
you know.
The long wait is over
and the pain will begin
shredding your heart
your soul.
With shaking hands
you slowly reach out
so the world you know
can end.
