Love’s Sacrifice – part 9

The choices we make,
chances we take.
Right or wrong
is the cost worth
the price?
Some wait in the wings,
watching,
judging.
Never taking that first step.
The fear of the unknown,
of being alone,
to great.
Waiting for someone else
to give them direction,
strength.
All the while hating,
despising,
those with courage,
a will of their own,
perceived freedom
to be alone.
Not understanding
while fearless outside,
the same doubt,
fear
dwells within.
The choice is,
will always be,
give into those fears,
remain in the darkness,
allow others
to own your soul,
or break free.
Live
Love
Make those choices
on your own.

This is a poem/story that came to me while driving and listening to Phil Collin’s, In the Air Tonight. Where it has seemed to take on a mind of it’s own, as with all stories, that firs initial push to write furiously has slowed down. So I will post as soon as my stewing and listening to the song repeatedly give me inspiration. If you have just found this story, here is the link to Part 1. I hope you enjoy. 🙂

Part 8  <—>  Part 10

Just Breathe

To think we are the only ones
That everything revolves around you
Your beliefs
Your truth
Will only keep you from understanding
Love
Compassion
Life.
Open your mind
Your heart
Your soul
And see things through another’s eyes.
Maybe then the hate
The anger
That chokes you everyday
Stifling your ability to enjoy
What this time on earth has given you
Will slide away
And you can begin to live
To grow
To just
Breathe.

Drums Beating in the Night

Drums beating in the night
Thrumming through the walls
Beating in time with my heart
Strengthening duty’s call.
Drums beating in the night
Heralding enemy untold
Striking dread into the soldiers
Telling of death that waits to unfold.
Drums beating in the night
Pounding in time with steel and might.
Drums beating in the night
When sudden silence speaks
In the dawn we will fight.
To go into history
Brave and valiant soldiers be
To save loved ones
To assure they are free
From those who’s beliefs and might
Give them convictions blight
That only their ways are virtuous and precise.
That those who stray
From path straight and true
Need to be punished
For thoughts deemed impure.
Drums beating in the dawn
Earth shattering, strong.
The battle begins
In a war no one will win.
Drums beating in the dawn
When will the madness end?
When will we put down our swords
And put peace into living words?

Something About Rain

There is something about the rain

that eases away our fears.

Cleansing that which is soiled,

Starting new and fresh the old.

Raising my face to the heavens

I close my eyes

letting the cool drops wash over me.

A spring shower bringing new life,

new beginnings,

new hope

that a world full of hate and fear

may remember what life is truly for.

To live,

To love,

To learn.

To be equal in all eyes

as those who put us here

Do not condemn those who are different,

diverse,

for we are all brought into this world the same way

as we are taken away.

Do I not breathe the same as you do?

Do I not bleed the same as you do?

Why must I walk the same path you do

when my heart tells me it is not my path?

Why should I be forced to see,

feel,

believe

what you see as right,

when in my heart

I see it as wrong?

I do not condemn you for your differences,

do not condemn me for mine.

In the end

when life is over

we in this wondrous world

all return to that which we came,

our souls set free to find a new life,

a new beginning,

a new journey,

one that is hopefully

better than the last.
