Whispers in Darken Night – Free Write Prompt 13

Spider webs glisten in the moonlight
Tales of woe and dark mysteries
Spin around the firelight.
Misty mountains call weary travelers
Come to my forest
Rest yourselves
Fear not the darkness or tales of plight.
I hear your voice
I see your burden,
Heavy with doubt and dread.
Come and I will chase away
Those who shall
Try to lead you astray.
Come to me
And know no fear.
Come to me
And all will be clear.
Spider webs glisten in the moonlight
Whispers of peace and contentment
Dance around the firelight.

The idea is to look at the picture and then write what comes to mind. This picture might give me a couple more poems because I love the color and the way the sun comes through the lace of the leaf, but for this Free Write the poem above is the one that popped into my head first.

If you would like to see others from Annie’s Writing Challenge click  here and it will take you to this particular prompt. Then take a look around the site, read the other prompts and submissions and then, maybe, try one yourself. It doesn’t have to be a poem. It could very well be a memory you’d like to share, or maybe a short story, maybe even the start of a longer one. Lord knows it’s happened to me a couple of times. Ask Annie. I think I’ve left her hanging more than a few times. he he he

Go ahead. Give it a try. I dare you. 😉

To Much to Ask?

I want to hear you
see you,
feel you.
I want to believe in you,
and know that you believe in me.
I want to know that my faith in you is not misplaced.
That I can trust you with the one thing that I hold dear,
my heart.
I want to know where this will lead,
If my time well be well spent.
Tell me that you love me.
Show me that I can trust you.
Take me into your arms
hold me tight.
Never let me go
and i will be yours
forever more.

A Poem Riddle

This came to me a couple of nights ago. A lot of times I don’t know where my poems come from, but I usually have an idea what they might mean. This one I am at a loss. What I do know is this poem appeared in my head with a force that said it needed to be written. I have tried to see if there is maybe more, but nothing comes to mind. Maybe it will make sense somewhere later in my life, or maybe it will resonate with you. If it does I would like to hear why. 🙂

I walk under the ocean
where the green grass grows.
Thunder wakes me
and I wonder where I come from
is where I need to go.

Let me know, because I would really like an answer to this riddle. 🙂

I Give You My Trust – A Free Write

Kerouac Quote

So many things I want to say.
Words tumbling around, every which way.
Each one wanting to be first
Each one for better or worst.
Sifting through the jumbled mess
Just too many to express.
I promise I will find
With deep thought and time
Someday, someway
To convey
Those words that means so much
So you will know
With my heart, I give you my trust.

Home

You stepped away
Only for a moment in time,
Yet it seems like a lifetime ago
That you held me in your arms
Telling me you love me,
That you will never leave me
No matter what life throws are way.
Giving me the security that only
Unconditional love can give.
Then a stranger took it all way.
Yet as I crave the safety of your arms,
The soothing sound of your voice,
I still feel that you are here,
Watching over me
Protecting me as you promised
So many time before.
And I know that one day
I will once again feel your arms around me
Hear your voice promising me that
You will always be there for me.
That I will once again be
Home.

Just Breathe

To think we are the only ones
That everything revolves around you
Your beliefs
Your truth
Will only keep you from understanding
Love
Compassion
Life.
Open your mind
Your heart
Your soul
And see things through another’s eyes.
Maybe then the hate
The anger
That chokes you everyday
Stifling your ability to enjoy
What this time on earth has given you
Will slide away
And you can begin to live
To grow
To just
Breathe.

Danger Around Us – From Destiny Series

Image: Desktop Nexus

I was swept away
could not see
the danger that surrounds you,
surrounds me.
Emotions are high
as each word lies are bared.
The world spins out of control
betrayal runs deep,
time is not on our side
evil lurks in misty shadow
waiting
biding its time.
For evil that hunts us
knows the opportunity will come
when our defenses are weak
when our eyes see none.
Then at his mercy we will be
our end is his goal.
Our fate in the hands
of destiny’s cold hold.

The Power of Words

They are just words
to tell a story,
sing a song.
They are just words,
to lift you up
make you strong.
They are just words
sharp as glass
scars will forever last.
They are just words
once said
never forgotten.
They are just words
choose wisely
judgment unforgiving
when the mirror you gaze.

Walking With Death

I walk through shadows
with Death by my side,
his hand on my shoulder
his eyes wise.
We walk as old friends
with stores to tell,
for this is not the first time
we’ve walked this trail.
My time has not come
to leave this realm,
it is for comfort he comes
to reassure another is well.
My life long dance
will end soon enough,
so I will try to live each moment
to the fullest,
for before I know it
my hand he will take
and lead me towards
the next chapter my journey will make.
